Builder Guide

What we do

We developed Builder Guide from nothing: the design, the build and the writing. On an editorial site the architecture is the product, so that is where the work went. Eight long guides sit at the root with no date or section prefix in the URL, which keeps every address short and stops a guide looking stale because of its own link. Six topic categories cross file them, so one guide can be reached from more than one angle. A single Explore Topics hub carries the browsing instead of a reverse chronological blog roll, and every category page opens with a written introduction rather than a bare list of links.

Short description

Builder Guide publishes long form written guides about home renovation and interior design for homeowners in Malaysia. Eight guides run roughly nine to twelve minutes each and cover renovation planning and process, budgeting and comparing quotations, choosing and managing a contractor, interior design, home improvement, and materials and finishes. The published editorial line is no sponsored posts, no contractor referrals and no brand promotion. The site sells nothing, takes no bookings and runs no contractor directory, and it invites readers to send in their own renovation experiences.

Full description

Renovation advice is a crowded subject and most of it is written by somebody selling renovation. This site takes the opposite position and states it plainly on the About page: no sponsored posts, no referrals, no brand promotion. That stance is only credible if the structure backs it up, which is why there is no directory, no quote form and nothing to buy anywhere on the site.

The categories overlap on purpose. A guide on comparing quotations belongs under budgeting and under contractor advice, and a reader arriving from either direction should find it. Treating the six as overlapping subjects rather than as exclusive folders means eight guides cover far more ground than eight guides normally would, and the Explore Topics hub makes that visible in one screen instead of leaving it to a search box.
